That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make chicken soup

2 genuinely different takes — a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

From a whole chicken

120 minutes · serves 4 · Easy

What you need

  • 1 chicken carcass or 4 thighs
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 celery sticks
  • 1 onion
  • Bay leaf
  • Handful of noodles or rice
  • Parsley

What you do

  1. 1Cover the chicken and halved vegetables with cold water. Bring up slowly and skim the foam.
  2. 2Simmer, barely bubbling, for 90 minutes. A rolling boil makes it cloudy.
  3. 3Strain, pull the meat off, dice fresh vegetables and cook them in the broth until tender.
  4. 4Return the meat, add noodles, and season properly at the very end.
