Chivito

Uruguay’s sandwich: steak, ham, cheese, egg, and a decision to be made about the size of your mouth.

That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make chivito

2 genuinely different takes — a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

  2. 2Sear the steaks hard, 90 seconds a side, then lay the ham and cheese on top and cover the pan for a minute to melt it.
  3. 3Fry the eggs in the bacon fat.
  4. 4Toast the rolls. Mayonnaise on both sides, lettuce and tomato on the bottom.
  5. 5Steak with its cheese, bacon, egg, peppers, olives. Lid on. Press once. Give up on eating it neatly.
