That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make omurice

2 genuinely different takes β€” a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

Wrapped, not draped

25 minutes Β· serves 2 Β· Medium

What you need

  • 400g cooked rice, cold
  • 1 chicken breast, diced small
  • 0.5 onion, diced
  • 4 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 6 eggs
  • Oil
  • Salt

What you do

  1. 1Fry the onion and chicken in oil until cooked through, then the rice, breaking it up.
  2. 2Ketchup and soy in, and keep frying for 2 minutes so the ketchup loses its raw edge. Set aside warm.
  3. 3Beat 3 eggs with a pinch of salt and pour into a hot oiled non-stick pan. Stir for 10 seconds then leave it.
  4. 4While the top is still wet, lay half the rice down the middle and fold both sides over with a spatula.
  5. 5Turn it out onto a plate seam down, and shape it with a tea towel into an oval.
  6. 6More ketchup over the top, in a line. Repeat for the second one.
