That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

Free, no sign-up, and an answer in about twenty seconds.

How to make oyakodon

2 genuinely different takes β€” a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

One pan, one bowl

15 minutes Β· serves 1 Β· Very easy

What you need

  • 1 chicken thigh, sliced
  • 0.5 onion, sliced thin
  • 120ml chicken stock
  • 1.5 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 eggs, barely beaten
  • 1 bowl hot rice
  • 1 spring onion

What you do

  1. 1Simmer the onion in the stock, soy and sugar in a small pan for 3 minutes.
  2. 2Chicken in, and cook it through β€” 4 minutes, it is thigh, it forgives.
  3. 3Beat the eggs loosely, so there are still streaks of white. Pour two thirds in a circle over the top.
  4. 4Lid on, 45 seconds. Pour the rest in, lid on, 30 seconds more, then off the heat.
  5. 5Slide the whole thing onto the rice. The top should still be wet and just short of set.
