That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make rice and curry

2 genuinely different takes β€” a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

Five small ones

75 minutes Β· serves 4 Β· Medium

What you need

  • 300g rice
  • 1 tin coconut milk
  • 200g red lentils
  • 1 aubergine
  • 200g green beans
  • 2 onions
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp Sri Lankan curry powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • Pandan leaf

What you do

  1. 1Dhal first: lentils, turmeric, half the coconut milk, an onion and curry leaves, simmered 25 minutes.
  2. 2Aubergine moju: fry slices until deep brown, then toss with vinegar, sugar and chilli.
  3. 3Green bean curry: beans, coconut milk, curry powder, 10 minutes.
  4. 4Rice with a pandan leaf in it.
  5. 5Everything in small bowls round the rice. The point is having four or five things at once, not one big one.
