That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make tteokbokki

One way to do it. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

Fifteen minutes, one pan

15 minutes Β· serves 2 Β· Very easy

What you need

  • 400g rice cakes
  • 500ml anchovy or vegetable stock
  • 3 tbsp gochujang
  • 1 tbsp gochugaru
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 spring onions

What you do

  1. 1Soak the rice cakes 10 minutes if they are not fresh, or they stay chalky in the middle.
  2. 2Bring the stock to a boil and whisk in the pastes, sugar and soy.
  3. 3Add the rice cakes and simmer, stirring, until the sauce thickens and clings β€” about 8 minutes.
  4. 4It gets hotter as it reduces, so taste before you add more chilli.
  5. 5Spring onion over the top.
