Açaí bowl

Frozen purple sludge, sweeter than it looks, under granola and banana.

That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make açaí bowl

2 genuinely different takes — a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

From frozen pulp

10 minutes · serves 2 · Very easy

What you need

  • 2 packs frozen unsweetened açaí pulp
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 tbsp guaraná syrup or honey
  • Splash of apple juice
  • Granola
  • Sliced banana and strawberry

What you do

  1. 1Break the frozen pulp into a blender with the frozen banana and the syrup.
  2. 2Add only a splash of juice — too much and it becomes a smoothie, which is the usual mistake.
  3. 3Blitz in short bursts, scraping down, until it is thick enough to hold a spoon upright.
  4. 4Into cold bowls. Granola and fruit on top, not stirred through.

With powder, thicker

8 minutes · serves 1 · Very easy

What you need

  • 2 tbsp açaí powder
  • 1 frozen banana
  • Frozen berries
  • Splash of oat milk
  • Granola

What you do

  1. 1Blitz the frozen fruit with the powder and as little liquid as it will take.
  2. 2Toppings on. Not the same colour, near enough the same bowl.
