That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make bacalhau à brás

2 genuinely different takes — a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

Folded off the heat

40 minutes · serves 4 · Medium

What you need

  • 400g salt cod, soaked 24 hours and flaked
  • 4 potatoes, cut into matchsticks
  • 2 onions, sliced thin
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 6 eggs
  • Black olives
  • Parsley
  • Olive oil

What you do

  1. 1Soak the salt cod 24 hours, changing the water three times, then flake it and pick out any bone.
  2. 2Fry the potato matchsticks in plenty of oil until crisp and gold. Drain.
  3. 3Soften the onion and garlic slowly, 12 minutes, then add the cod and warm it through.
  4. 4Potatoes in, then the beaten eggs — and now take the pan OFF the heat and fold. The residual heat sets them. On the heat you get scrambled egg with chips in it.
  5. 5Olives and a great deal of parsley.
