That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make halo-halo

2 genuinely different takes β€” a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

Everything in the glass

20 minutes Β· serves 4 Β· Very easy

What you need

  • Sweetened red beans, nata de coco, kaong, jackfruit, macapuno
  • 2 ripe bananas in syrup
  • Leche flan, cubed
  • 400ml evaporated milk
  • Shaved ice
  • Ube ice cream
  • Toasted rice flakes

What you do

  1. 1Sweet things in the bottom of a tall glass, in layers, about a third full. Which ones is entirely up to you and nobody agrees.
  2. 2Pack shaved ice on top, right to the rim. It has to be shaved, not crushed β€” crushed ice gives you a cold drink with lumps.
  3. 3Pour the evaporated milk over until it seeps down through the ice.
  4. 4Flan, ice cream and rice flakes on the very top.
  5. 5Then stir it all into a mess, which is what halo-halo means and the only correct way to eat it.
