That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make horchata

2 genuinely different takes β€” a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

Rice and cinnamon

20 minutes Β· serves 4 Β· Easy

What you need

  • 200g long grain rice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1.2L water
  • 100g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

What you do

  1. 1Blitz the raw rice with the broken cinnamon stick and 400ml of the water until it is a rough slurry.
  2. 2Leave it to stand at least 4 hours, or overnight in the fridge.
  3. 3Blend again, then strain through a fine sieve lined with muslin, squeezing hard.
  4. 4Stir in the rest of the water, the sugar and the vanilla. Serve over a lot of ice.

Quick, with rice milk
