That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make inari sushi

2 genuinely different takes β€” a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

From the tin

20 minutes Β· serves 3 Β· Very easy

What you need

  • 1 packet seasoned inari pouches
  • 400g cooked short grain rice
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Toasted sesame seeds

What you do

  1. 1Dissolve the sugar and salt in the vinegar and fold it through the warm rice with a cutting motion, not a stir.
  2. 2Fan the rice as you go if you want it glossy. Let it cool to room temperature.
  3. 3Open each pouch gently, fill two thirds full, and fold the top over.
  4. 4Sesame on top.

Simmering your own

45 minutes Β· serves 4 Β· Medium

What you need

  • 8 aburaage sheets
  • 200ml water
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • Sushi rice

What you do

  1. 1Pour boiling water over the aburaage to take off the excess oil, then press dry.
  2. 2Cut in half, open into pouches, and simmer 15 minutes in the water, soy, sugar and mirin until most of it is absorbed.
  3. 3Cool, squeeze gently, and fill with seasoned rice.
