That was somebody elseโ€™s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make jianbing

2 genuinely different takes โ€” a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

On a flat pan

20 minutes ยท serves 2 ยท Medium

What you need

  • 60g plain flour
  • 30g mung bean flour
  • 200ml water
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp sweet bean sauce
  • 1 tsp chilli sauce
  • 2 spring onions, chopped
  • Coriander
  • 2 sheets of crisp fried wonton skin

What you do

  1. 1Whisk both flours into the water until thin and lump-free.
  2. 2Pour a ladle onto a wide, lightly oiled pan and spread it thin with the back of the ladle.
  3. 3Crack an egg on top and spread it over the surface while the crepe is still wet.
  4. 4Scatter spring onion and coriander, then flip once the base is set.
  5. 5Brush with bean sauce and chilli, lay the crisp sheet on, fold in the sides and fold it in half twice.
  6. 6Eat immediately, standing up, from a piece of paper.
