That was somebody else’s answer. Yours takes about twenty seconds: a handful of either-ors, then one dish.

How to make tuna melt

2 genuinely different takes β€” a classic, and a faster or lighter route. The same ones the app hands you once you have decided.

In a pan, pressed

12 minutes Β· serves 1 Β· Very easy

What you need

  • 1 tin tuna, drained well
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 spring onion
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 2 slices bread
  • 60g cheddar, grated
  • Butter

What you do

  1. 1Drain the tuna properly, pressing it against the tin. Wet filling makes a soggy sandwich.
  2. 2Mix with the mayonnaise, mustard and spring onion.
  3. 3Butter the outsides of the bread, not the insides. Cheese, tuna, cheese β€” the cheese on both sides is the glue.
  4. 4Medium-low heat, 4 minutes a side, pressed with a spatula. Low and slow, or the cheese is still solid when the bread burns.

Open, under the grill

10 minutes Β· serves 2 Β· Very easy

What you need

  • 1 tin tuna
  • Mayonnaise
  • Cheddar
  • 2 slices bread
  • Tomato

What you do

  1. 1Toast the bread on one side under the grill.
  2. 2Tuna mix on the untoasted side, tomato slices, cheese over.
  3. 3Back under until bubbling and blistered.
